Young Researcher Competition (For High School Students)
Welcome to the Young Researcher Competition, a unique opportunity for high school students in Indonesia to showcase their research skills and contribute to the theme of Indonesia at the Crossroad of Technology, Sustainability, and Society. This competition is part of INTERSECT 2024, held at Stanford University on August 2nd, 2024.
Overview
The competition invites high school students to submit short research papers related to the symposium theme. The goal is to encourage students to explore the intersection of technology, sustainability, and society and to develop their research skills. This is an excellent platform for young minds to express their ideas and contribute to significant discussions in technology, sustainability, and society. Finalists will be invited to present their work remotely (synchronous) at the symposium. The top three winners will receive certificates and cash prizes.
Eligibility
- Open to all high school students in Indonesia.
- Each paper must be authored by one to three students, and supervised by a teacher or school representative.
- Each student can only participate in one paper.
Paper Guidelines
- The paper should be related to the symposium theme.
- Written fully in English and free of plagiarism.
- Length: 5-8 pages (excluding references).
- Original work: At least 95% of the content must be authored by the student or student team (up to 3 students).
Submission Process
- Prepare your paper according to the guidelines (see the submission page).
- Include one page of each student’s CV (including name, school, and contact information).
- Include one page of the supervising teacher’s CV (including name, school, and contact information).
- Include a letter of recommendation from the school principal or supervising teacher, confirming the student’s enrollment and participation in the competition.
- Combine all documents with the paper into a single PDF file and submit it through OpenReview before the deadline.
- Pay the registration fee through our EventBrite registration system (you will need your submission number to complete the registration).
Key Dates
- Submission Deadline: April 1st, 2024, 23:59:59 Anywhere on Earth (AoE)
- Notification of Finalists: July 1st, 2024
- Final Presentation at the Symposium: August 2nd, 2024
Awards
- Finalists will be invited to present their work remotely at the symposium.
- The top three winners will receive certificates and cash prizes.
